Improv is one of my newer artistic pursuits—if you consider seventeen years “new”—and it’s consistently one of the most fun. Many people assume improv is hard, but I’ve found the opposite to be true. Once you let go of the pressure to be funny, the funny usually follows. At its core, improv is about listening, responding, and trusting the moment. In that sense, every day of life is improvisation, so I like to think I came in with plenty of experience.

I’ve been a member of ComedyFLOPs since its inception in early 2011. Before FLOPs, I performed with the Left Wings Improv Troupe, part of the Wing Space Theatre. ComedyFLOPs performs monthly on the fourth Saturday at The Ake Gallery, as well as at festivals and special events throughout the year. Each month, we select a different charity to support through audience donations, and since our founding, we’ve raised over $16,000 for nonprofit organizations across the Finger Lakes region.
